Sydney City Council has laid out a planning framework to bring life into some of the cities unused and under-utilized spaces as part of the 2030 planning vision.

“The City has a unique natural setting, a legacy of heritage buildings and iconic status as a global city.

By revitalising the City Centre, we are creating a city for everyone; a beautiful, safe and vibrant place which improves people’s experience of life in Sydney.

Our focus is on the City’s laneways, small squares, and parks. Laneways play a critical part in the night time economy of successful, vibrant city centres, as places where you can wander and explore from gallery, to boutique, to café, to bar.

To this end, we introduced a new licence to attract small bars to the City and continue to produce public art and events for these extraordinary urban spaces.”
